Waaaaay overdue update!

March 30, 2009 by howe

Hello fellow roarers! This is a waaaaay overdue update for you on the Hear Us Roar project. Please forgive the lapse in communication. The truth is we’ve hit a couple of stumbling blocks with the  project that I have been wanting to deny rather than share about LOL.

No worries, nothing major. We’ve just reached a crossroads in terms of deciding what is the best way to get your stories out in the world in a way that will make the greatest impact.  And our team leader, Vickie, has been dealing with some pretty serious health issues since the first of the year. Things are looking up for her, which is great news in general and also means we’ll be able to focus more as a team. We’ve also got a couple of very dynamic professional women who have volunteered to lend us their expertise and advice about “where next” with the project, so we’re looking forward to moving through that barrier as well. Stay tuned … there may be ways others of you can help.

Rest assured, the Hear Us Roar! vision is clear and unchanged — 100 women, 100 stories, $100k for charity.

Please feel free to reach out any time you have questions or comments. We’ll do a better job of being in communication with this extraordinary community.

In the meantime, I leave you with this quote, which I was delighted to find at the end of Lael Jepson’s recent SheChanges newsletter, called Touchstones. Lael writes: “Inspiration…At a recent talk at hosted by Leapin’ Lizards, Dr. Christiane Northrup rocked my world with this quote (she claims to have heard it from someone else, so forgive the lack of credit…) .  She called it a ”Women’s Motto”: Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shutters and says, “oh crap, she’s awake.”"

I thought you all might like that. ;) (You can find out more about Lael’s vision to create conscious transitions for women at www.shechanges.com.)

With love,

Andrea

  1. What an amazing post, Andrea.

I love the quote. If we all lived each day that way, imagine the things we could accomplish. I think many times we live our lives as if we are constantly in fear – of life, of people, of what might happen. But if we instead live our life with courage and authenticity, imagine what we could accomplish! Not only would Satan be saying, “oh crap,” but we would constantly be inspiring others to be themselves and live life to the fullest.

I for one intend to keep this in mind.

Let us know if any of you need anything!

    Vickie

  2. Your excitement and energy are so evident. No journey is ever complete without “bumps”. I look forward to your continued roars!
